Our summer weather has been amazing. Beautiful days have kept us outside playing all the time and we rarely hear “I’m bored.” That all changed during a streak of rainy days and we were left wondering what to do to keep the kids entertained. I like to avoid TV and iPad time as much as possible so I started thinking of rainy day games we could play. The first one we tried: Q’s Race to the Top

I am a total snacker! If I could just snack all day long and not eat full meals, I would be one happy camper. Yesterday, I got the opportunity to combine my love of snacking with a visit to my all time favorite place {well, besides my home}…New York City! The Laughing Cow® was taking over part of Times Square in New York and that was one event I did not want to miss.

A Glimpse: Summer Fun Day

To close out the month of May and get a jumpstart on summer fun, the family and I packed it up and headed to Busch Gardens for a summer fun day.  Busch Gardens is where I went almost every summer as I was growing up and, during college, I had season passes so I could visit all the time.  Now, we are a little farther away but we like to go and take the kids at least once a year.

As we drove in, we were greeted by famouns Loch Ness Monster roller coaster. I was trying to convince Maya to ride it with me but wasn’t being too successful.

Our first stop was Germany so we could all grab some lunch.  There is nothing like the refuge of Oktoberfest’s air conditioning and delicious food when you are hot and hungry! With full stomachs, it was time to hit the rides.

Where in the World to Vacation?

During our recent getaway to New York City, Mathlete and I were talking about where we should go on our family vacation this year. Last year, we did a 1/2 staycation and 1/2 vacation at the beach. It worked out great because we actually got to relax a little and travel a little.  Of course, being only 1/2 the time of our normal vacation, we had to go somewhere pretty close to make it work.

But, we also want our kids {and us} to visit and experience more places as they get older. We briefly threw around the idea of visiting Australia for a family vacation.

We have good friends who live there and it would be awesome to see them!
Plus, you absolutely cannot beat the beauty of Australia.

It might not be 100% practical for this year since we really haven’t planned our time off from work well enough to support the trip but it did get me to thinking and researching Australian hotels.

So, tell me, where are you thinking of going on vacation this year?
Have you ever been to Australia for vacation?
